Les Landing Vehicles Tracked (LVT) étaient une classe de véhicules amphibies de débarquement utilisés par la Marine américaine, le Corps des Marines des États-Unis et l'Armée de terre des États-Unis.
Voici les versions US ARMY.
Des recherches photograhiques montrent que plusieurs LVT-2 furent utilisés au cours du débarquement de Normandie.

La division du Général LECLERC débarque sur UTAH beach le 1er aout 44.
Elle combat en Normandie et participe à la libération de PARIS le 25 Août 1944.
Le 12 septembre 1944, en approchant de Dompaire dans les VOSGES, vers la cote 327, des antichars allemands embusqués dans un chemin creux vers le bois Chanot ouvrent le feu et endommagent le PROVENCE.
Touché à une chenille le char bascule dans le fossé et est hors de combat.
Le lendemain le 12e RCA va détruire 59 chars Panther et Panzer IV de la 112e Panzerbrigade.

General LECLERC's division arrives on UTAH beach on August 1, 44.
She fought in Normandy and participated in the liberation of PARIS on August 25, 1944.
On September 12, 1944, approaching Dompaire in the VOSGES, toward hill 327, German anti-tanks ambushed in a hollow path towards the Chanot wood opened fire and damaged PROVENCE.
Hit by a shell in track, the tank rocks in the ditch and is out of action.
The next day, the 12th RCA will destroy 59 Panther and Panzer IV tanks of the 112th Panzerbrigade.

Cet appareil se composait de deux grands conduits montés sur le dessus de la trappe de ventilation du moteur et de l'échappement.
Grâce à ce système, qui retenait de l'air à un mètre au-dessus du tank et des écoutilles bien scellées, le Sherman pouvait être déposé par de gros navires au fond de la mer, à plus de trois mètres de profondeur.
Ce kit pouvait également être utilisé pour traverser à gué de profondes rivières.
L'USMC en a utilisé pour des opérations dans le Pacifique et en Europe, certains ont participé à l'assaut de Dieppe (1942), à Salerne et lors du débarquement en Normandie en 1944.

Shermans with Deep Wading Gear: This apparatus consisted of two large ducts mounted on top of the engine ventilation hatch and exhaust. Thanks to this system, which caught air one meter above the tank, and well-sealed hatches, the Sherman could be deposited by large ships on the sea floor, at more than three meters depth. This kit could also be used to ford large rivers. The USMC used some for operations in the Pacific and in Europe, some took part in the assault on Dieppe (1942), at Salerno and during the Normandy landings in 1944.

Le béton était largement utilisé dans certaines unités lors de la guerre du Pacifique comme blindage suplémentaire de la caisse des chars Sherman.

Concrete was widely employed in some units often on the glacis and also in the Pacific as a layer against the sides of the tank cast against a layer of planks on the side of the tank. This was done by the Marine Corps where the planks left a void about 100mm wide against the sides which was then filled in as both a measure to improve the armour against the Japanese antitank guns but also to prevent the sticking of magnetic mines to the sides by Japanese infantry.

Many tank divisions modified their tanks with add-on armor. The most common was sandbags. They many units came up with very elaborate steel frames welded to the hull to hold the sandbags in place. Even though army tests showed that sandbags did not help much, this was still popular. Patton banned their use in his 3rd Army.
Airborne Jeep and trailer
The jeep was well suited to a variety of roles and was even used in airborne landings.
The main modifications were in order to fit the Jeep into the Horsa Glider for transportation.

En avril 1943, la compagnie General Motors produit les premiers prototypes.
L'un des rares chasseurs de chars américains à avoir été produit sur son propre châssis et non sur celui d'un autre char.
Le HELLCAT est devenu l'un des plus rapides véhicules blindés de ce type de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Un total de 2 507 véhicules ont été produit de juillet 1943 à octobre 1944.

Tout comme pour la série M4A2, c’est le manque de moteurs qui força les Américains à lancer une nouvelle série de Sherman.
À la place du Continental des premiers modèles, c’est un moteur Ford qui fut ajusté dans le M4A3 (que les Britanniques dénommèrent « Sherman IV »).
Contrairement aux autres modèles de Sherman, toute la série des M4A3 reçut une plaque de protection du différentiel en une seule pièce moulée, sans boulonnage.
As with the M4A2 series, it was the lack of engines that forced the Americans to launch a new Sherman series.
